Slow System After Build
Hey guys!
A few days ago I tossed some new parts together to upgrade my old computer. Here's the details - OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail ASUS M3A78 Pro AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core black edition Processor - Retail 600W processor(not sure exactly what it is as it was from original build) 2 IDE Hard Drives(original build) 1 SATA Hard Drive(original build) Windows XP Pro(original build) Now, I seem to be having a problem with the speed of the system. It seems to really lag, especially when installing new programs but it still lags even on normal things. During audio playback, it stutters, lags in general, etc... And with the components from the original build, they all seemed to work fine with none of this lag. Just wondering what I should check to narrow down the problem piece/pieces... Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Slow System After Build
And you installed the drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard?
Are you running stock speeds on the Ram and CPU? Is the memory on the motherboard QVL or the ocz configuration utility lists your mb for that ram? What Video card are you using? What PSU Brand and Model? |

Re: Slow System After Build
Yes, installed drivers from the disk... Still slow...
Stock speed on RAM and CPU. Memory is QVL approved for AM2+ processor... I have an AM2 proc. Could that be the issue? Using on-board video. Can't find the info on my power supply still... Also running XP Pro 32bit. Heard that shouldn't make a difference, right? |
