[SOLVED] Recommend a Motherboard please

In the process of picking my build for a new PC, and I was settled on a nvidia chipset SLI board with an nvidia 9 series card looking to go SLI in the future, but have since decided on opting for the ATI HD4870 series of card so I'll be looking to crossfire and my current choice of board doesn't support it so I need the good people here to recommend the board for me system.

Details are as follows...

Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33ghz

4GB (2x2GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800)

Sapphire HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E

Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

Western Digital 640GB Caviar 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3.5

Sony DRU-190S 20X DVD-RW

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit

Theres my current selection of parts (chopping and changing a fair bit to get it just right.)

What sort of board should I opt for? Quite happy to pay out for a decent one if it makes a big difference. Really need the help as there so many different types and all the letters and numbers have me baffled.

Re: Recommend a Motherboard please

Two excellent motherboards for you to consider. Look at the specs and then make an informed decision on what best works for you:

Asus P5Q Deluxe

or

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4P

Re: Recommend a Motherboard please

Funnily enough I have the Asus P5Q Deluxe on another browser window, was the exact one I was leaning towards, seems like a good board and supports crossfire which I wanted.

Re: Recommend a Motherboard please

Excellent board, but don't discount the Gigabyte board, it is also top-of-the-line quality with very excellent features. Study them both before making a final decision. Knowledge is power for us in this business.

I lean toward Asus (kind of like a Ford/Chevy thing) boards, but you won't go wrong with either.

Re: Recommend a Motherboard please

Good advice, checked the specs of both now, both appear to have the features I was after, gone toward the Asus brand as that was what I planned to buy for the nvidia chipset. Thanks for the help.

Re: Recommend a Motherboard please

You are most welcome and I hope you like that board. I plan to buy that same board myself in about another two weeks for my new personal build.

I will wait another two weeks or so because I just built this one about two and a half months ago and the wife doesn't see the need for a new one just yet like I do...........ha, ha.

Anyway, when you get it up and running, let us know how it goes.
