Buying PCs not Building

Ok my moms office needs 6 PCs she would like them to all be the same, but she wants to get at least 4 the same. I have looked many places and just havent found a great deal. I think with everything she is looking at no more than 800-850 a pc

Here is what it needs XP Pro or Vista Business, Excel, Word, Outlook.
(and keyboard and mouse)

Heres what i would like it to have
Intel Core Duo 2.3ghz or higher or AMD equivalent
2gb ram for xp pro more if recommended for vista
HD maybe at least 100
Monitor 22 inch
dvd rw drive
Vid card doesnt have to be anything special and no floppy drive needed

There is not really a preference on where we buy it from, we would like a warranty.

Get a Dell. They might have some business offers.

Re: Buying PCs not Building

Dells prices are terrible. Even if they offer a business deal, it will still probably be overpriced.

Re: Buying PCs not Building

Outlook Express should be enough. If you need more, use Mozilla Thunderbird. If you buy Outlook, it's mostly like one license.

Dells are all in one packages with monitors and they include some sort of warranty, exactly what his mom needs. No stop whining about their prices because they are not that bad.

IMO, you are asking a lot for what you are willing to spend. You will need to purchase a copy of microsoft office standard suite per computer and that by itself be almost 400 dollars.

I'm going to have to go with mlabre on this one. Monitors are NOT included, and the monitors they offer are overpriced. Every computer comes with a warranty. And yes, the prices really are not that great. When I was pricing out a computer, I got the current one I have for 1100$, versus the nearly exact same dell for 1600$. Plus, and i know his mom probably wont need this, but they are TERRIBLE for upgrading.

I know advocating for the devil is hard but here is go.

Dell Home: Desktop: Inspiron 530

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...=DDCWDB3&s=dhs

Not even gonna upgrade it, it comes out to be $749 with 20 in. monitor or +$30 to upgrade to the 22in. and still under $800.

Some people give Dell a bad rap but if you can accept the fact that they are nice packages, with KB, mouse and monitor, with little effort, it's actually OK for his mom. Then they can use OOo for the word suite.

My brother and I take care of all our office machines (small office = about 30 machines)

I prefer DELL unless they are doing something demanding ..... but for the tasks outlined above........ I would say ...."Dude; you need some Dell's"

no hassle, decent warranty with monitor and they are good for that price ........

no upgradability to speak of; but that is no longer a shock to you ????

I certainly dont have a Dell sitting on my desk / nor does my brother ......... but all the regular data entry staff / accounting staff / sales etc etc are now all running on Dells's

the autocad construction design fellas all have our custom builds .....
