Mobo/CPU/RAM questions
Hi all!
1 I'm getting the Q9550 CPU, which has a 1333 FSB. I don't know what the multiplier is though, which is crucial to answer my question: What speed RAM do I need? I know it's either PC2-6400 or PC2-8000, but I don't know which. I won't be overclocking, so I only need the speed that matches the CPU. 2 Mobo - Should I get one that is PCI-E 2.0? I thought the current cards don't utilise even the throughput limits of the 'old' PCI-E x16 slot. I have a PNY 8800GT 512Mb GDDR3. 3 P45 chipset - Gigabyte EP45 DS3L Any comments on this mobo? I live in Austria, and on Amazon.at it's 85 euros, which is my max limit. If there are any alternatives at this price that offer more features then let me know, but I think I've researched this pretty thoroughly. Note: I was considering an ASUS P5Q/P5QL/P5QL-E one of which is a P43 chipset and the other two are P45 chipset, but I've read reviews and seen the pictures: the main power connector is in the worst place ever, meaning the cable has to fit between a mobo heat sink and the graphics card. I have ugly visions of the cable melting on the heatsink on one side and getting mangled in the graphics card fan on the other. Thanks in advance!
