[SOLVED] Strange things on new build

Hello all,
Plagued again with some strange behaviors from my new system. Specs as follows:

E8500 Processor
ASUS P5Q Motherboard
OCZ DDR2 1066 RAM (2 x 2 GB)
Corsair TX 750 W PSU
XFX 9800 GTX Video Card
Liteon LH21A1L-06 SATA DVD-RW drive
Seagate ST3250410AS 250GB SATA HDD

First item: Video signal
This has been an issue since I got the sytem up and running. Occasionally, when I restart the system, it shuts down normally, but I get a "no signal" on the monitor with a yellow status light. The only way to get it back to normal is to un-seat the video card, re-seat the card and start up again. This does not happen if I select "Shut Down", only "restart". The card is not obstructed by anything on the mobo, power cables are fastened tightly, nothing in the case is touching the board and the card is screwed in and remaining level. Can't imagine what the cause of the problem is.

Second Item: Install errors
I am unable to successfully install some programs. One of which is a game (Silent Hunter 4), the other is an application disc that came with the DVD drive. I consistently get "CRC Errors" while trying to install the programs. I sucessfully installed Vista Premium 64 and numerous ither programs from a disc, but I continue to get CRC errors on these programs. I assumed a bad disc or drive, I cleaned the discs and even went so far as to download a digital copy of Silent Hunter 4. Same errors using the download version (need to get a refund), usually relating to the .cab files or media files, but always listed as a "CRC Error". The only thing that has remained consistent in my troubleshooting is my system, so I believe the bug is there somewhere. Google searches on the topic say this can be anything from a dirty disc to a bad HDD to improper RAM voltage in the BIOS.

Those are the latest ghosts I have had in a continuing saga of my first system build. I am pretty much a rookie to this. System is running fine except for the oddities mentioned above. I have changed nothing in the BIOS, everything is default and flashed to the latest manufacturer's version. Maybe there is something in there I should have changed and didn't.

Thanks to all of you that have provided me help or advice so far. I pray these are my last two hurdles on this build...

Re: Strange things on new build

Hm,
I am beginning to believe there is somehting strange with my HDD. I can't seem to patch and programs I have installed because it can't find the files. Is it normal in Vista 64 for programs to be installed to a
"Program Files (x86)" folder vice a stright "Program Files" folder?

Last one. Can anyone think of a reason that my mobo (Asus P5Q) temp sensor is reading higher than my CPU temp? CPU reads 28c at idle, mobo is reading around 38c. seems like something might be backwards there. Inside of the case is cool, mobo heatsinks are cool to the touch. Just curious.

Thanks again for any help that can be offered.
