Freezing due to motherboard?

I recently built a new gaming pc, however I am having a problem where in some of my games I will experience freezing. Every 5 or 10 seconds the games will lock up for maybe a 20th of a second. It doesn't happen in all of my games, but it happens in a lot of them

I really want to fix whatever is causing the problem. I have the latest drivers for everything. One thing I thought might be causing the problem was the motherboard, because one of the reviews for it said: "Cons: Not the best gaming board - I experienced periodic freezes in even older games like World of Warcraft."

Is periodic freezes a problem that can be caused by the motherboard, or is the reviewer maybe mistaken?

If it is a problem that can be caused my motherboards, I am fine returning my motherboard and getting a different one, but what I really don't want to have happen is I return it and get a different one, but then have it turn out that it wasn't the motherboard causing the problem.

So, what do you guys think is causing my problem? Do you guys think it is a problem with the motherboard like the reviewer said? Any ideas on things I could do so that I was sure that my problem is being caused by the motherboard? Or do you guys think it is something else causing my problem?

Thanks

Re: Freezing due to motherboard?

Download and run SensorviewPro for us. First of all, check both temps and voltages when you first boot up. Then, start playing a game or putting the rig under stress (before it tanks on you) and then check the temps again.

Report back with this info and it might help us to know what is happening with this rig.

Re: Freezing due to motherboard?

I downloaded it but when I opened it it said "This version of windows requires signed drivers. Because of this, this program may not run correctly." And in the program the only thing I can see is the cpu clock speed and harddrive temp.

I don't think it's a heat issue because I have been monitoring the heat of my cpu and it never goes above 40 even when I play a game, and my gpu is usually at about 60 after I have been playing a game, which is pretty low compared to the temp that most people get with an HD4850.

Re: Freezing due to motherboard?

Then give this one a try:

Speedfan

Then, as a double check, see what the temps and voltages are in the bios. That way, we have a double check.

Re: Freezing due to motherboard?

Ok I downloaded it. I was just playing a game so I can't really say right now what it is after my computer has been off for a while but the temps and voltages are:

System: 44c
CPU:46C
AUX: 18C
Core 0: 44c
Core1: 44C
Video Card: 53C

Vcore: 1.14V
+12V: 11.40V
AVcc: 3.36V

The video card temp is pretty low compared to what most people get with it. And I don't understand the voltages part at all but that's what it says and hopefully it makes sense to you.

Also, my problem seems to be different in every game. The only game I have that I experience no problems in is Crysis.

A game that I had severe problems with was Half Life 2 Lost Coast, but as soon as I turned on Vsync, most of the problem went away (still some freezing).

Halo 2 has the freezing problem, but it also has another weird problem. Basically, every few seconds it seems as though the game will skip a few frames ahead for a split second, and then skip a few frames back to what it was before it skipped frames. There is no Vsync option in game, but I forced with the ATI program but the problem was still there.

Company of Heroes runs fine, except when I turn the camera in a direction that I haven't looked yet, it always freezes for about a quarter of a second. It also sometimes just skips about a quarter of a seconds frames entirely.
