Problem with this Build...?
I could use some feedback if there is anything unnecessary or necessary that I am missing from my build (Don't say cables =P) Also I need to know if everything is compatible with each other so I don't run in to any problems. Thank you for your time.

Re: Problem with this Build...?
Hi,
I'd say your spec doesn't need liquid cooling OR The 4GB of RAM (for XP to utilise more than 3GB you need to use the 3GB Switch. 2GB is plenty unless you are video editing etc) OR The Hard Drive Cooling Fan (All you need is adequate, quality case fans. Intake at the front and exhaust at the rear) AND You seem to have 2 sound cards What I would suggest you do have, is a high-end power supply like Corsair etc. Scroll down this linked page and you'll find recommendations for different systems... Re: Problem with this Build...?
I though XP could use up to 3.5Gigabites of RAM. What is the switch you are talking about? Why wouldn't this build need liquid cooling? I'd rather be safe than sorry, I'm just wondering as to what you think and *why*.

Re: Problem with this Build...?
Hi, sorry was reading the Logitech aspeakers as a sound card.......doh!
Liquid cooling is ok I suppose on a Gaming-System with an "extreme" CPU that's overclocked and high-end video cards in SLI or Crossfire, but not for a Power-Desktop build like you have. The 3GB Switch?.............. http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system...AE/PAEmem.mspx http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...h&start=0&sa=N |

Re: Problem with this Build...?
Ok, well I am going to be using this for constant gaming up to 8 hours a time on some days. Also Video Editing is actually one of my hobbies =P, but right now I'm very limited as I'm using a very bad laptop.
Could you explain to me what SLI or Crossfire is? Thanks Another thing is, do you know if a 5.1 surround system can work with my Build? Is there anything special that I need? |

Re: Problem with this Build...?
Hi,
SLI from nVidia and Crossfire from ATI, is when you have two video cards connected to one another to boost your graphics. The Gigabyte X38 DS4 is Crossfire enabled, so you'd be better with an ATI video card, in case you want to go Crossfire in the future. As for Audio, I'm pretty sure your motherboard is suitable for 5.1 surround, in fact.... "The ALC889A provides support for 7.1 sound playback, plus 2 channels of independent stereo output (multiple streaming) through the front panel stereo." http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Mo...ProductID=2736 I can't stress enough to you the importance of a quality power supply. Put simply, it's the engine of your rig and you should get the best that you can afford. Especially if you're an avid gamer and video editor. |

Re: Problem with this Build...?
GeForce for Gaming, Radeon for Vid editing, HD DVD, BLU-RAY playback. I mean both will work fine for either, but those are the best uses. Also that radeon isn't $50 better than the 8800gt by no means, even if it were better.
