First Build

So I have a computer right now, but its quite old and I'm looking to upgrade. But, since my current tower isn't good, I'm basically rebuilding the whole thing. My main uses for the computer are aim, web browsing, listening to music, ocassional cs, and wow.

So far, I just bought a : Samsung 22'' 2ms, and a 8800GT overclocked video card. (All from newegg)

For my other parts I have picked out (haven't bought yet):
ENERMAX ECA3052B-ELT500 Black SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Enermax Liberty 500W Power Supply - Retail

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor - Retail

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

No sound card cause I have a logitech 5.1 surround system but i was just going to use the sound input from whatever motherboard i buy so i want to make sure the mobo is 5.1 capable. Aside from that I believe i just need a mobo and ram. What would you guys recommend for those parts to have a decent setup? I'm not looking so spend a grip of money but I don't want bottom of the line crap.

So my main sections of help are:
Motherboard?
Ram? (how much and what kind)

also, instead of getting a retail processor, should i get an oem and get my own heatsink/fan? Does it make a big difference?

My last question, is general but concerns ram. If i get a mobo that says "DDR2 1066 standard" does that mean the bear minimum for it is 1066? or can it support 800? Can dual core processors support 1066? (someone told me they may not be able to)

Thanks for the help and if anyone has any suggestions, anything would be helpful.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz 2 x 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor - Retail

Re: First Build

The enermax liberty 500 is not enough power supply for an 8800gt overclocked video card. You need to be looking at a 650 watt supply with the rig you are looking at.

Re: First Build

It looks as if you will be doing some gaming. Look into an Intel setup.
