Ordered, let's hope it works!

I spec’d this up a few weeks ago, and after a few minor adjustments decided to bite the bullet and get my credit card out!
For those wondering, video and sound card are next on the list, but for now, I’ll install my current 7600GST – I just wanted a good core unit to run with my monitor and peripherals.

Applications: Graphics/video editing, web developing, audio recording/editing, surfing, and occasional gaming.
  • Coolermaster Centurion 5 All Black Case w/ 550w eXtreme Power Plus PSU
  • ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP AiLifestyle Series P35/eSATA
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.66Ghz 1066Mhz FSB Retail Boxed
  • Corsair 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400
  • Western Digital WD7500AAKS 750GB SATA 2 16MB Cache OEM
  • Western Digital WD3200AAKS 320GB SATA 2 16MB Cache OEM
  • Belkin Serial ATA Cable (18")
  • 2x LG GH22LP20 22x DVD±RW DL & RAM Lightscribe

This is to replace my current P4HT 3.4Ghz /2Gb PC3200 RAM, should be quite a nice upgrade!

Ordered last night from eBuyer. Let me know your thoughts on this spec – hopefully it should all work together beautifully!

Excellent choices. I haven't heard of the power supply - but hopefully that won't present any problems.

I just helped my brother complete a build recently with a centurion 5. It's one of the best cases I've encountered so far. I was surprised at the quality of it, despite how inexpensive it is.

Thanks

Yes I’m very much looking forward to using the Centurion, I’ve read glowing reviews and it seems to be tool-free, which is what I wanted.

Even more impressive, is the fact that on eBuyer it comes bundled with a PSU.
This was something I was a little apprehensive about, as most people (rightly) comment that bundles don’t usually offer good quality components.

Having read a review of the PSU, it seems to be very good with stable rails, so hopefully it will live up to it!

I would say it's almost tool-free. The only thing that was a chore was removing the drive bay cover for my bro's DVD burner - unless I'm mistaken (I didn't read the manual) you have to take the front off of the case, unscrew and pop out the covers, which is somewhat cumbersome but definitely doable.

All its other strengths certainly make up for that minor inconvenience though.

Just looked that case up on Newegg. They can't come close to that price with a psu included. They are offering the case plus the Cooler Master 650W psu in a combo deal.

Re: Ordered, let's hope it works!

I would stick with the Real Power Pro Coolermaster Models Only, The case with included PSU is not as good a deal as it seems. The reviews are usually written within days to weeks of receiving the products you want a psu that lasts for several years and works well.
