Essential Programs

Building a new computer this month and I want to compile a list of essential programs for hardware monitoring (Fan control, temperature readers, etc.) and other essentials.

And I was hoping you all could help me get a list going.
So far on my list...

Motherboard Monitor
AVG AntiVirus
and that's about it.

I remember having a program on my old computer that was similar to motherboard monitor, but basically just a very simplified version, I'd like to have that running too. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Re: Essential Programs

Alright cool, I've used avast before, I actually liked it better anyway. How about a firewall?
