Question Suggestion for a config

hi ppl....i have issues concernin the rig which i am plannin...i have decided on a AMD 64 X2 4600+...an ATI HD4850.....and an ASUS M2NSLIDLx Motherboard....i have confiusions regardin whether AMD or Intel is a better choice....does a high-end Processor make a hugh impact on games and applications....also whether ATI 4850 or Nvidia 9800GTX...as i thought i am takin an ATI card, AMD compatibility will be good...should i have a powerful processor or Graphic card??. The following is the config i have decided...please recommend me if u hav a better choice..i am little bit on a tighter budget side....

Intel E4600 Core2 Duo 2.4Ghz / AMD 64 X2 4600+ (2.4Ghz)

Asus M2N SLI Dlx Motherboard

ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB (PCI Xpress) / Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX 512MB

Thanks.....

Re: Suggestion for a config

well the video cards are about equal .......

as for Intel or AMD cpu thats not an equal ........ right now Intel has the lead and in a most favorable manner at that.

for better than average gaming ...... you will need BOTH a good cpu and video card

I would not get the 46000 X2 cpu thats pretty old

please give us the budget amount and which parts you need for your upgrade and we will try to deliver the most horsepower for the budget

Question Re: Suggestion for a config

Well....
My Budget in INR is around Rs. 35,000 alongwith the Monitor....
I wanna change everythin except the Speakers, Mouse and Keyboard...th
this was my initial decision...
Processor - AMD 64 X2 4600+
Graphics Card - Palit Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
Hard Disk - Seagate 400GB SATA
Motherboard - ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe
LCD - LG 19" W1942S
Memory - Transcend 2GB RAM DDR2 800Mhz
Cabinet - Zebronics Bijli with 500W SMPS

I think...ATI goes alongwith AMD....so i decided on the CPU and Graphics card....Kindly give in ur suggestions....Thanks....

Re: Suggestion for a config

the parts you have selected will work ........ I have NOT been very impressed with the Asus M2N boards ......they are fussy and problematic

Question Re: Suggestion for a config

Yeah....the Processor and the Motherboard you have suggested is feasible....well i was thinkin about the Graphic card...does ATI give driver problems in the future...coz i have heard a lot about it....friends have suggested to take 9800GTX....well...but i do find the HD 4850 givin a tough fight to the 9800GTX....and does the RAM also make a difference...like a corsair dominator will give a better performance???..well i wanted to know whether the parts like RAM,Processor, SMPS, Motherboard make a difference in the proper rendering of games....and does AMD (5400+) be upto the mark???
Thanks....

Re: Suggestion for a config

the 5400 is decent for gaming ........ not top of the line ..... but solid of course, the amd 6000 X2 is better and the Intel E8400 is better yet

either the 4850 or the 9800GTX will be a very good choice ........ I prefer the 4850; but I just bought one of those ....... I dont think drivers are goign to be an issue given the popularity of this card....... any trouble will get imediate attention so ATI can keep the ball rolling

DDR2-800 / PC2-6400 is plenty fast enough for your gaming needs .... the fastest corsair dominator ram is not needed unless you have plans for extreme overclocking ...... which the AMD processors arent all that good at anymore anway ...... so my suggestion is stick with DDR2-800 ram with timings of 4-4-4-12 not the 5-5-5-15 stuff
