Hello,
I want to build a retro system but need help finding a small case and a board that will fit it. I have no idea where to start when it comes to finding ancient computer hardware, so please help me out with this one. If someone still sells such systems, please let me know! Base hardware capability: - Pentium® 200 MHz Processor - 64 MB RAM - Sound Blaster 16 - TCP/IP PCI NIC - 32x CD-ROM - Hard Disk drive with at least 25 MB of uncompressed space available - OpenGL 3D accelerator card - Maybe one of the 3DFX cards in the PCI variety? I was looking at the Voodoo 5 5000/5500... - Seagate 8GB (or greater) Which was the very first 7200RPM? What would be an apropriate version of Windows or Linux to run? This computer must be able to retrieve files from a HTTP server on a LAN. Windows 95B? 98SE? Which version of Windows had USB capability? As for Linux As for a case, it has to be small. At around 1990-1995, was there a micro system? I had a monsterous 486 system, and want something completely opposite to it. Can someone recommend a small case and a power source good enough to power it's components? FUN FUN FUN!!!

Heh, I am having trouble finding an ancient case. There are some systems on a California site that has a bunch of old systems and I found the perfect starter build but they had a $0 price so I think whoever did inventory that day made a mistake. I wouldn't mind paying $0 for a Pentium 166 machine.
I played Space Quest in DosBox last night on my laptop and it's not the same. I should at least buy a CRT screen to play these games on, if not an entire retro system. Damn flat screens, they take all the life and magic out of my games. Examples: ![]() ![]() ![]() I like #3 the best.
