First PC Build Help Please!!!
Ya so as the title indicates I am a newb when it comes to computers but decided to give it a shot.
I got my parts together today and assembled them. I believe I got through POST as I see the ROG symbol pop up but then it says something along the lines: "Reboot and select Proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot Device and press key" What should I do? Thanks in advance, Daniel System Specs: Mobo: Maximus Extreme X38 CPU: Intel Q9450 Ram: OCZ DDR3 1600mhz GPU: Visiontek HD 4870 HDD: WD 10000RPM Velociraptor 300GB |

Re: First PC Build Help Please!!!
First, enter the bios setup menu and make sure that you have the Boot Order set to:
CDRom - 1st Floppy - 2nd Hard Drive - 3rd Then, migrate on down to the Hard Drive Priority and make sure you have the hard drive you want the OS on listed first in this area.

Re: First PC Build Help Please!!!
After you've done changing the boot order in the bios save the settings, reboot the computer, and then put the operating system CD on the CD drive and the computer should automatically boot to your OS CD, good luck and hope everything is working from now on.

Re: First PC Build Help Please!!!
Ha Ha yeah turns out it was the keyboard!! I was using an old emachines keyboard and the delete must not work!!! I replaced with a dell keyboard that was double its age and it worked beautifully.
Thanks for the help though, I'll start trying to get it ready for the os tomorrow prob. P.S. How do you make a bootable USB Flash Disk? I formatted it into FAT32 but its still not recognized in Asus EZ Flash -Daniel |
