Are These Parts Compatible?

Hi, building really simple computer just for email/word processing. I want it to be able to run Windows XP at least, and not much more beyond that other than Notepad and Mozilla Firefox. Also, I'm on a wireless internet (I think I need a card for that?). I live in the US and probably the most important consideration I have is money (my budget is $600). I just got these things off Newegg but I have no idea if they'll work together.

Will these parts work together?

Re: Are These Parts Compatible?

Thanks! I had a suspicion that the built in power supply in the case wouldn't be able to do the job, but I had no idea what PSU to get. Out of all the units you mentioned, Corsair seems to be the cheapest, though after looking at the article on power supplies I should probably go with the Antec Earthwatts.

Newegg says both PSUs are type "ATX12V V2.2". Would this fit a microATX case?

btw, you guys rock! I've never seen such polite and helpful forums

Re: Are These Parts Compatible?

the micro atx case is going to give you trouble; no matter how you want to slice the pie ! not enough case ventilation & air flow for modern spec parts ........ the faster stuff of today produces alot more heat ........ micro atx cases are now obsolete!

here are plenty of cheaper med atx cases available ........ the coolermaster centurion is one of my favorites for $45.00 there are others even cheaper

BTW: the corsair is far better than the antec in quality but the antec will serve you far better than the case / combo you were thinking about !

enjoy you new spec you will love it

another great place to save money is mwave.com / click refurbished / click on the parts catagory

their refurb stuff is all open boxes which have been returned thru mistake purchases and production overstock .......... nothing in there that has been "fixed" !!!!!!!

Re: Are These Parts Compatible?

Hmm, the coolermaster looks a heck of a lot better to boot. This is going to be a pretty sweet machine, regardless. Thanks so much!
