Newbie - Business/Personal Compy Build

Hi Folks, I am minutes old, complete TSF newborn, so howdy!

Anyway, I am embarking on a new venture and I need a business/personal computer to do the job. When working, I frequently have numerous heavyweight graphics programs open, in addition to several MS Office 2003 Pro programs. While working I stream music through either MediaMonkey or WMP, and I run Windows Live Mail the program thingo that constantly sends/receives my email. (I know I've probably committed so many party fouls by subscribing so much to Microsoft, but oh well, my bad).

When not working, I take many many high quality photos that I like to manipulate, play with, etc, same as videos, in addition to having an extensive music collection.

When I'm being TOTALLY useless, I play Diablo II when I can.

Now, I need a computer that can do all of this easily with room to upgrade and I really have no idea where to start. I'd like to stay under the $1000 mark, preferably around the $850-900 mark if possible. (Bear in mind that I'm in Australia, and having lived in the US and here, I know that technology cost is more, and progression is less. Eg. I don't think we even have access to the iPhone yet) I don't know what is compatible with what, or even how to find that out. Could someone give a new brother a hand?

Even though they are in Sydney - at least it will give you a start (and I have had great dealings with them) - you can email Jenny or David there with your spec and they will give you a good idea if there are any compatibility issues - they along with the TSF crew were a great help to me) or you might be able to find a similar outfit in Brizzie.

One of your WA based colleagues has suggested you might like to look at a firm called iTech. I haven't an email or web address - but try Google and see what you get. Alternatively, one of TSF computer wizzes (Dai) is WA based - so a PM to him might point you to a local firm that he has confidence in

you can email john there with your spec (I got a great computer last week for jus $850) they also have a great phone support and sales team (I can't remember they phone number buy you can look it up on www.dww.net.au )
