Hi!
Today I received the parts for my new computer, and I got some help putting everything together. But even though all the cables are where they are supposed to be, and everything is in place. I am unable to get any response from my monitor. The LED goes orange instead of green("on") and the screen stays black. Everything gets power and runs perfectly inside the box, except the CPU fan which doesn't seem to run. When I shut the computer off the CPU fan moved abit, though. Can it have something to do with it not running if it doesn't "have to"? These are the parts I'm using: ----- RAM: Corsair XMS2-6400 TWIN2X2048-6400 5-5-5-12 Xtreme 2x1024MB (tot. 2048MB) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz with Heatsink Graphics: Radeon HD4850 512MB DDR3 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz 6MB Motherboard: Gigabyte - GA-EP35-DS4 HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST3500320AS 7200.11 500GB 7200rpm 32MB cache SATA2 Power Supply: Corsair 520W HX Modular Box: Antec P182 ----- Getting the CPU and fan in place was horrible, it felt like I was going to crush the whole motherboard. Anyway: I've tried two different monitors, so I doubt that's the problem. Any idea what might be the cause of this problem? Might it help to remove and put back critical parts? (I'd rather not, the CPU was a nightmare.) With the CPU fan not running, and the screen staying black when starting the computer, is there ANY chance at all that I'll get this to work? Or am I completely f'd? Help! Thanks! |

Re: Monitor and CPU fan(?) not responding.
Have you done the bench test as described in the sticky? You don't have to remove the HSF from the processor, but taking the mobo out will let you check to make sure the pins are correctly attached. make sure everything (like your RAM and VGA card) are seated correctly when you do this...and double check to make sure the CPU fan is plugged in, and that all your PSU cables are firmly attached as well (including the one to your VGA)
