Haven't Built in 4 Years
Last time I built a computer was 4 years ago, when I built my AMD 3700+ gaming computer on a DFI Lanparty MOBO.
Anyway, I have some money coming my way, and I think I want to build a new computer. It's going to be mid-range/performance. Budget of $1500-$1,700. Gonna be used for some gaming (Spore, Starcraft 2, etc..) Last I checked Intel was doing really well so I think I want it to be intel based. Any help on deciding between nVidea and ATI would be great. Needs a good sound card, 1 CD/DVD-R, 1DVD, 1 Floppy, and at least 320GB of HD. Please help me out with a sample build. Purchase will be before the end of August. |

Re: Haven't Built in 4 Years
With your budget you might want to look at a 9800gx2 or 2x 4850 cards (I've seen 4850's going for $150 after rebate). The ATI 4850/4870 cards are doing very nicely in benchmarks...it's making the choice between Nvidia and ATI very difficult.
Of course if you went with ATI you would have to be looking at an intel chipset to support crossfire (if you were to go with the two card option) |
