What Vista do i need to buy?

Basically i want to buy the cheapest Vista possible, I have an XP on this computer but I attend to build a new computer thus I want Vista, but i am not sure if a basic Vista will work on my new computer. Here are the parts:-

138173 :: Hiper 630W 85% efficient Power Supply Unit
Q122537 :: KINGSTON Memory/2GB 800MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 DIMM
138309 :: Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2L socket LGA775 motherboard
Q130231 :: WESTERN DIGITAL HD Caviar SE/640GB SATA II 7200rpm
Q129405 :: PNY GeForce 9600GT 512Mb PCI-Express graphics card
138035 :: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 socket 775 processor

So i basically want to know what Vista I will require to use on my new computer. And is it worth it to load a xp first on it and then geta upgreade of vista if its cheaper.

Please help

Re: What Vista do i need to buy?

xp will have to be a full version and did not come with any computers. It can be oem but must be a new purchase and never been installed in any other computers. Generally its better to get the full version vista by itself. It will save problems later on.

Since you are building a computer, you are eligible to vista oem software. IMO, if you want the features of vista, then you need to get the premium version. If you want one thats really no different from xp but using more resources, get basic.

Re: What Vista do i need to buy?

I'd be looking at vista home premium 64 bit. OEM will be cheaper, but no support, and some legal issues with moving computers...
