Re: computer upgrade

Hey mate,
you have any anti-virus software running on your PC???
Scan PC, maybe it could be some virus attacks since you said you were surfing internet...
Report back please...

Re: computer upgrade

So have you tried doing a reinstall of XP and Vista? If so, you might want to update your drivers...

I had recently installed XP SP2 on a computer, and I have found that you need to be careful with some of the updates...I went through the auto updater (not the website) and installed some updates that must have not gotten along with each other b/c the computer began locking up on a regular basis (this puter had OOo and Firefox on it, nothing else). Had to roll back XP in safe mode to resolve the issue.

Re: computer upgrade

When the screen freezes (and you cant do anything) this can usually be because of heat issues. Install 'Everest' or 'Speedfan' to check your cpu temperature and post back.

Re: computer upgrade

okay, do you have the most recent drivers for your motherboard and VGA card? sometimes these can be updated as well to resolve issues. you don't necessarily get these through windows update...sometimes you need to go to the mfrs website and find the drivers...
