Is this overkill?
Let me say first that this site rocks! Lots of very useful info.
I am trying to build a "Gaming PC". If possible I want a machine that will last longer than 1 year before I have to update again. I am running Vista x64. These are the components that I have already Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131011 Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148136 Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143118 Now here is what I put on my Wish List in Newegg.com Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143118 (so that I can run dual sli) Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129021 Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153053 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103249 Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227290 After Market Heatsink: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118020 I am curious if I should go ahead and upgrade my Motherboard or keep what, it is a good board. I welcome any and all suggestions on what I can improve on to make this a great gaming machine. Thanks in advance

Re: Is this overkill?
Few changes i would make .
Get the Asus M3A32 motherboard, it supports AM2+ So the phenoms HT will run at the full 5200MT/s. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131291 I would also get 4GB of RAM, Anything more than 4GB is a total waste unless you do some serious video / music editing etc. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145197 Last change is the Video card(s). For the price of Two 8800GT's you could get the 9800GTX ( Mabye even the 9800gx2 - i havent checked the US prices yet ). Since the Asus motherboard is Crossfire i would recommend going ATI and Getting HIS 3870. Then you can crossfire this card later down the line. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161218 Remember, You cant use SLI on a crossfire motherboard.
