No monitor response on first boot

Quote:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ Black Edition
Biostar A770
OCZ Platinum 2GB DDR2-800
ASUS 9600GSO TOP
EXCELSTOR Jupiter 80GB SATA
Antec Earthwatts 500w
Arctic Cooling Alpine64
The topic explains itself. I put together the build today, I power it on, seems to be functioning, loading sounds but my monitor has no response.

If i unplug the monitor then it gives you that 4 color floating box but when I plug it in it goes black and the power button turns orange.

I have to use an adapter to plug the monitor into the output devices coming from the video card. (As it won't directly go in).
It connects to both, but neither work.

As far as I can see, it doesn't look like there's anything i need to plug in, but that's probably the problem and I don't know what to look for.

Re: No monitor response on first boot

Okay, my huge 24pin (I think?) connector from the PSU was a little loose, so I pushed it in and went to power on. I heard a little rush from my fans (maybe a few revolutions) and then nothing. Everytime i go to boot up i get 2 fan rotations and then nothing...

Hi.

Did you use the Thermal paste between the heatsink and CPU? It sounds like the CPU is overheating.

It was pre applied on the heatsink and it's directly on the processor.

The computer was working fine and is brand new, I don't get how it could be over heating.

thanks for your response.

Re: No monitor response on first boot

Make sure the processor is plugged into the motherboard.

PSU voltage may be on the wrong setting?

I had a similar problem and after doing these two things it worked.
