Motherboard and CPU upgrade
I want to upgrade my motherboard and CPU, but I can't afford to upgrade both at once. I want to get the motherboard first, and put my old CPU in it until I get the new CPU. I'm currently using a P4 Prescott LGA 775 with an 800FSB, and I want to get a core 2 duo. So here's my question. The motherboard I'm looking at has a 1333 FSB, but the processor I want only has an 800 FSB. Will this processor work in this motherboard? And will my old processor work in it? Also, the memory standard is DDR2 1066/ 800/667, but my memory is DDR2 533, and I'm not sure if it'll work. The model number of the MB is ASUS P5K LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard, and the processor is Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80571E7200. Any input would be appreciated.

Re: Motherboard and CPU upgrade
I think it should work fine. You might want to check the documentation for which processors the p5k supports explicitly, but typically they're backwards compatible with processors that share the same socket.
Also, the bus speed (the 1333) refers to the maximum that the board can handle, so 800 will be fine with it, as will the RAM. Keep in mind that you will most likely need to reinstall windows in order to get it to work with the new board. If you're upgrading your CPU and processor to ones with those specs, you should also upgrade your ram to something faster. DDR2-800 is pretty standard now.

Re: Motherboard and CPU upgrade
You should be able to do a repair install of windows to get it working...but there's no guarantee...so make sure you back everything up before messing around with it...
