Re: First build...

I don't know anything about the case so I can't comment on it (make sure your graphics will fit...)...but everything else looked okay. I would probably go for a SATA DVD just for cable size reasons, and maybe drop to a 750i board...and go for a e8400 to save a couple bucks.

Re: First build...

Hmm, well, what case do you suggest then? I'd like to keep it around $100, and at least a front fan, and if possible back fan & side vents..

some of the favorites are the thermaltake armor and the antec 900, and a few raidmax's. although both are just out of your budget. If you poke around on newegg, you should be able to spot one just from the images. I prefer .8mm cases over .6 and smaller (metal thickness- thicker = less resonating) Just dont be decieved by case+ PSU combo's. Those ask for trouble.

Good unit:

PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts. That's a 650W PSU.

Re: First build...

This one is pretty much a knockoff of the Antec 900...Toms hardware spoke favorably about it (most recent case roundup). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146047

If you can, look locally for your case (at a place like Frys or Microcenter) to save on shipping. There are also free shipping specials occasionally at different sites, which cuts down on costs.

Here's a 900 B stock at the antec store (though I've seen them less on sale new): http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=523
