can you connect a dvd drive and one hard drive on one ribbon cable?

I have set the dvd and hard drive to cable select. I was planning on connecting the black one(master) to the dvd and the grey one(slave) to the hard drive and the blue one to the board. Can I do that? or the hard drive has to be master?

thanks

no you can do that, just have to have it right in the bios, to boot off the hard drive.

Re: can you connect a dvd drive and one hard drive on one ribbon cable?

Depending on the board and the boot setup you want, this is no problem. Many new BIOS's let you choose if you want cable select, jumper select, or to select in the BIOS...
