Question Budget system recommendations

Hey,

I was just wondering if I might be able to get some advice about a computer build. At the moment I'm mainly looking to do some audio recording with it and have an existing external sound card. As cheap as possible would be good as well.

At the moment I'm looking at the current config, any recommendations would be more than welcome:
  • Asus TA-B41 Black/Silver Chassis with 400w PSU WO/PFC
  • Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E4600, LGA775, 2.4GHz, 2MB L2 Cache,800MHz FSB
  • Asus Mainboard P5K-VM, FSB-1333MHz, Intel G33+ICH9, VGA, mATX, 1xPCIE, 2xPCI, DDR2-1066, 1394, 8-Ch HD Audio,AI Gear2,AI Nap,12x USB2
  • Pioneer DVR-212 DVD-ReWriter - Beige, SATA, 18x. OEM
  • DDR2-800 Corsair 2GB-Kit [TWIN2X2048-6400C4 G] (2x XMS2 1GB) PC-6400, 2x240-pin DIMMs, Non ECC Unbuffered, 4-4-4-12
  • Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop 1000 USB Black Retail
  • 750GB 3.5" SATA-II Samsung Hard Drive 32M Cache 7200rpm

I have no idea about video cards at the moment, but won't be using the system for games or anything so I don't need anything spastically quick. Basically the cheaper the better.

Thanks in advance.

Are you planning to overclock at all?

Anyways, look into the e7200, it's a great chip. As for a motherboard, I would get one of those 'green' motherboards. Gigabyte preferably. Other than that, looks good. You might want a new PSU though.

Re: Budget system recommendations

Cheers,

I'm not really sure on the overclocking front.

Any ideas on graphics cards though?

I would say 8600GT.
