Better motherboard for me?

Let's say I'm just getting one ATI HD 4850 or 4870 card, with no crossfire. My CPU is an Intel Dual Core E8500 or E8400.

My current choice of a motherboard is this:

MOBO: ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
Link:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131299
Price: $149.99

But that has crossfire support. What would be a better motherboard for me, assuming I'm not going to do crossfire?

Also, I've read that those two cards are very hot -- aside from

Thermal Paste

is there anything else I can do (assuming no water cooling/etc) to keep the heat levels manageable so it doesn't throttle my performance?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Better motherboard for me?

Well, you could look for a P43 model if you wanted...or just stick with what you got.

If you wait a little bit, you may see some different card mfrs putting non reference coolers on the cards. Or if you find you have heat issues, get yourself an aftermarket cooler when they start to show up.

Re: Better motherboard for me?

I personally am really really confused. You ask about a better motherboard... yet are concerned about heat, and are talking about cooling paste.

WHAT heat source are you concerned about? CPU? VGA? MoBo?

If you're worried about the VGA temp, I would reccomend...

Re: Better motherboard for me?

You can always get an aftermarket cooler like Narynan showed if you have issues...I would wait to see if there's an issue first...
