Mobo with CrossFire and Quad-Core Support
I'm building a pretty heavy-duty gaming PC right now and I need a motherboard that will support 2 HD4870s in CrossFire and also a Quad-Core. Specs, just to let you know:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Quad-Core Socket LGA775, 2.50 GHz 4GB DDR2 RAM 400MHz Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPM ASUS 20x CD/DVD-RW Dual Layer SATA with LightScribe 2x ATI RADEON HD4870 PCI-E in CrossFire All brands and prices are fine. I need it to be able to be shipped to Canada. This means no newegg :( Last edited by evster7; 06-27-2008 at 06:01 PM. |

Re: Mobo with CrossFire and Quad-Core Support
I get all my stuff from NCIX out in BC. Takes about 4 or 5 days to get to n ont.
http://www.ncix.com/ I got this one, working great so far, though I find it running a tad warm, but maybe that's just me. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS Just wondering though, 400mhz ram? Wee bit slow isn't it. I used 800, but could of gone to 1066 with this board, maybe I should of. There's a lot of choices that have crossfire, I'd look through and bunch of boards, guess it mostly depends on what you want to spend and the features you need. A decision that the more time and thought you put into it, the happier you'll be about it in the future. Higher end type thing might be something like this. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS or this http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS which supports faster ram and either ddr2 or 3. Gamer types should be able to give you some direction as to what chipset and boards are good for that. |
