Help with newly built computer

I just finished building my first computer (I'm obviously pretty new to this) and I've run into a problem. After I turn the computer on, the core temp on my processor continually goes up and eventually the pc shuts off, usually after a minute or two (it hits around 130 degrees celsius). I've reset the processor, I've taken the heat sink off and put it back on several times and it appears to be running alright. Is there anything that could be causing this besides possibly a bad heat sink? Any recommendations on what I should do?

Do not take the CPU/Heatsink off and put it back on unless you clean everything off (old paste) and put new Thermal Paste back on. It sounds like you just need to do exactly that, clean off the old and put some Artic Silver back on there. Read instuctions carefully:
