Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

Its all compatible and actually some good chocies. Some people come here and pick the worst parts , lol. But those are pretty good.

As for a case , I like the antec 900 , thermaltake armor , or a really nice lian-li case.
As for cd drives I'm clueless I just get whatever looks good.

Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

If you want a quieter case, take a look at the p180 series cases from antec...I'm a big fan of them (my next case). I'm not such a big fan of the Lian Li cases...maybe aluminum doesn't do a good job dampening sounds...

Might want to look at a SLI compatible mobo if you want to go that route in the future...

I put the SLI comp mobo aside due to games I will be playing, I don't plan on overclocking or playing any outragious graphic games like Crysis and what not, I am a simple gamer, MMO being the gyst and RTS's. Im just looking for a comp that would run these smooth, basically high end WoW or Warhammer Online stuff, which I don't think its CRAZY like Crysis.

Nah don't go for it. They say the giant fan on the front doesn't move a lot of air. The 900 would be better.

Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

Frankly, I like the choices you have made and especially that power supply is an excellent unit. They are very solid components.

I would have chosen the P5K-e wi/fi board just for the heck of it. It has sli which you don't want to use (however, easier to sell later on), and it also has Wi/Fi, which if you don't want to use, also makes it more marketable later on when you decide to upgrade again.

Either choice will work, but those are my thoughts. This should be a very nice rig.

Can't think of anything else you would need other then a cd drive and case.

Although it has been 4 months and there are alot better video cards out.

Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

I went with the CD RW because my wife likes to burn cd's still, thats why I have it and also cause I still like playing some old school games like diablo2 and what not. Do you have any experience with that xfx card?

also, crazy question. But is there a item that i can put in so that I can hook up my tower to a TV screen? so i can watch movies?

Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

I think emosun means you can burn CD's on the DVD-r so you wouldn't need 2 of them?

If you are using the 8800 card it has S-Video out if your tv has S-video in all you need is a S-video cable that may come with the card.

Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

Yes , the dvdrw drive burns cd's aswell , you don't need two. And both the 8800 and 4850 have s-video outputs so they both can hook up to a tv if you like.

Re: Please help with this Build, Is it compatable?

I'm still running XP on my main pc but have Vista on 2 others with no problems other then I like XP still the wife hates Vista but she uses XP at work and it's different, my daughter has and likes Vista so it's all in what you prefer at this point Vista will give you DX10 for newer games and the driver support on newer components has gotten a lot better.
