[SOLVED] built a new pc and having issues
hey guys ive been having alot of problems with my new pc that i built the specs are
msi p6n diamond motherboard msi nx8800gts graphics card intel 2.53 dual core e7200 processor 320g western digital harddrive windows xp pro 2g pc6400 ram corsair 550 watt power supply well i put everything together and installed all of the drivers , my problem is when i play a game (any game at all) or download something , my computer lags really bad and then the sound starts to break up and turn all static and its really annoying you cant even play any games because of the brutal lag and static noise, ive tried the graphics card in other pc's and dint have an issue ive swapped out the processor but it still did the same thing ive switched hard drives but still had the same issue and ive tried differnt ram but still no luck , so i basically replaced everything but the motherboard and it still was coppy and breaking so i sent the motherboard back and got a new one ,(the same one) and it still does the same thing. ive even replaced the speakers and still it does the same ****. i must be mislooking something , but soemthing is seriously wrong soemwhere , any thoughts? ive ran out ideas an things to replace i feel like blowing my computer up. lol Last edited by josh1000; 05-25-2008 at 12:12 AM. |

Re: built a new pc and having issues
Have you tested the machine out of the case? Is this with onboard sound? There's only a couple of hardware-related causes that I think would be to blame, and one of them would be the motherboard shorting out somewhere.
The other thing to check might be the ethernet cable. If it's shorting any of its wires, it might cause the network controller to act up. I actually had a machine that exhibited the same behavior- it was a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP from way back. I had stuck a SB Audigy 2 value in it because the onboard was only coming through one channel, and the network controller would always lag the sound and make ugly interference sounds. One thing that it might be is an IRQ conflict, but I would check the other stuff first.

Re: built a new pc and having issues
Maybe you have a different video card you could test in the machine? That would rule out the problem being power related.
That said, yours is borderline for the GTS- it's a power-hungry card.

Re: built a new pc and having issues
ok so what i did was i replaced the video card with a much shittier one, and one that doesnt require a separate power connection from the power supply, and the problem still persisted, so i think that rules out the power problem , ive tried replacing the network cable but the problem still was there, im thinking now its either some kind of configuation problem or the motherboard is messed up for the second time.
oh yeah its on board sound and its called sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio |

Re: built a new pc and having issues
That is way too high. Newer intels should idle in the low 30's. Check and reseat the heatsink. See if the bottom surface of it isn't irregular or something, because you might have gotten a faulty cooling unit.

Re: built a new pc and having issues
redo the paste with some arctic silver
check it's not caused by one of the legs popping up http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_s...structions.htm
