Suggest parts for new and first time build

Heya Guys, wondering if I could get some help in picking out some parts.
BUT theres a problem,I live in India and well they dont have tigerdirect/newegg/etc here so i'll have to buy the peripherals from a shop.So the thing is that the modern cutting edge components may most likely not available. So I'd like someone to suggest a few brands and the approx prices I should look out for.

1. Budget: How much money are you willing to spend on the new build?
At current exchange rate maximum about 1000$

2. Brands: Are there any brands of components you want or don't want?
I like you to suggest a few good ones

3. Multitasking: Will you be multitasking with this computer and if so, how much?
Nope just regular net/chat and stuff

4. Gaming: Will you be gaming and if so, how much and how new are the games?
Decent gaming but I'd like Crysis and such to run

5. Calculations: Will you be doing any intense calculations or media encoding?
No

6. Overclocking: Do you plan on overclocking and if so, how much?
New to OC but i'd like to try it out only if I'm 100% sure it wont cause any heating problem

7. Storage: How much storage will you need and what will you be storing?
250 gigs (Already have a few external drives.)

8. Legacy Support: Will you need support for older hardware like parallel, serial, or PS/2 devices?
Well my mouse is pretty new so I dont think i'll be buying a new one and its a PS/2 so yeah

9. Operating System: Do you want Windows XP or Vista, or Linux compatibility?
Need your opinion on this one

10. Case: Do you want help selecting a case and if so, how big do you want it?
Well dont really need any help because I'm all for the big cases and they should probably accomodate everything right ?

11. Accessories: Do you want a keyboard, mouse, or other items included?
Keyboard

12. Recycled Components: Will you be reusing any components you already have?
Just the mouse I guess

13. Monitor: If you want a monitor, what size do you want and should it be widescreen?

20" LCD should be fine.

14. Stores: Do you have any online stores that you prefer to purchase from?
Not purchasing online.

15. Location: What country do you live in?

India.

Also I'm probably gonna get an 8800GT (maybe 2 if they have a SLI mobo and if the card is cheap) and 3-4Gigs of ram so that I can use the PC for atleast 3 years and be able to upgrade it
Also should I go for a Dual core or a quad core processor ?

Thanks for the help guys!

Well I'll be off in a few hours or so ...
The I'm sure the video card will be a 8800GT
Not sure which processor or mobo to get :/
Also any good brands for the PSUs ?
What min wattage do I need for a 8800(possibly 2 in the future)?

Re: Suggest parts for new and first time build

E8400
with the latest cpu's check if the m/b needs a bios flash to recognise it,if it does you will need an earlier cpu so as to be able to run the flash
at present there is little out there supporting the quad core
if you don't plan on upgrading for a fair while go for the quad core
