Help me choose the case for my build please...

Hi everyone....

I'm about to start building my computer...

I have a problem choosing my case...

As of now... I'm looking at mid-tower case..

Either Lian Li or Thermaltake

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ian%2bli%2bp60

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133062

I have no knowledge on choosing the case here...

Should I go for full tower? Is having full tower always better?

If so....

then I'm deciding between

Thermaltake armor full tower

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133055

or Lian Li

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112159

Here's my spec:

CPU: Q6600
GPU: 9800GX2 (will go for SLI in the future)
Mainboard: Intel 780i
Ram: OCZ DDR3 4GB
Sound Card: X-fi
PSU: 750-800W (not sure yet)

By choosing the best case company out there (Lian Li case)...

Would I be able to overclock more? Or will I see performance boost

because of the case????

and... Will the mid-tower allows me to put 2 9800GX2 or do quad SLI in the future?

Thank you!

Re: Help me choose the case for my build please...

It really all comes down to amount of space and airflow. If you have a bunch of drives you plan on adding on, it might be beneficial to spring for the full tower.

Strangely enough though, I have found in building a few machines, that bigger cases tend to allow more hot air to stagnate, causing higher overall temperatures. This may be a problem only when you have too few fans, but I've found that you get better airflow when there's not too much extra space up in the top of the case.

I don't think choosing one over the other will affect your ability to do SLI- the issue will be whether the case is long enough from front to back to accommodate those long 9800s. You might want to read through the reviews to see if anyone has had problems fitting their vid cards into them. I don't think there would be any difference in performance.

I tend to prefer larger cases because they allow for more drives and space to work with when you're installing and upgrading- my current case is an ancient Gigabyte brand case that's actually a good three or four inches taller than the full tower ATX standard. I don't know how that happened, but I think it used to house a server that my school used way back when.

It's up to your preference. I usually just get a cheap sturdy case and save the money for an upgrade down the road.
