Re: New Computer Build

What's the main purpose of this machine? If it's for gaming, I'd say the 8600 is a little underpowered relative to the overkill you have there with the ram and the motherboard. If you can afford the extra 80 or 90 for an 8800gt with the current setup, I would scale the RAM back to a couple of cheaper and less flashy 1GB modules in order to accommodate that. Even 1066 modules now are getting to be cheap- check out this deal here.

Re: New Computer Build

Awsome , I was wondering if that was to cheap of a Vid Card . after those two changes im at 850 but i have $80 in rebates. as for your questions yes its a gaming computer mostly i do multitask online but not enough that i think i need a quad core just yet. the two games im using it for right now are Call of duty 4 and world of warcraft. as for the power supply i picked that one because i liked the blue fans but i'll shop around a little bit.

Thanks

Re: New Computer Build

id stick to duel core cpus atm since games havent been using the quad cores so its mainly overkill. also with the psu if u like the blue leds u can mod them onto ur psu. also do u have a os sytem and which os u plan on using

Re: New Computer Build

I don't know, I would still spring for the extra 2 if you can get it- I think it's worth it to future-proof the machine. I don't think the prices can come down much more anyway.

Definitely choose a power supply for its ratings rather than for aesthetics- a low-quality one can mess up a whole build.

And it's a good call to go with an 8800gt- COD4 is a fairly demanding game, and, having upgraded from one, I don't think the 8600 would do it justice.
