Very New to Computer Building

I am very new to computer building, and looking for advice as to which certain components people can suggest that would work well together. I am looking for a basic computer that is capable of running games like COD4 for example. Also i would like to be able to run both xp and ubuntu. Nothing top of the line, rather i am looking for parts more on the buget watching side. Thank you for your help.

When you do purchase the computer parts, I recommend going to www.newegg.com, they got good deals on computer parts all the time.

Do you have a budget?

Re: Very New to Computer Building

500 dollars for a tower + monitor is not possible the monitor alone for a decent lcd is about 100 and the xp cd is like 89 (ithink) so that leave about 300 for a case plus all the other parts. i can configure you one in the 700-800 dollar range but 500 for the tower + monitor is not possible
