Hi, I'm looking to build a nice gaming/media center PC to replace my current (very old) system. AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 1.5Gig Ram, Ge Force 5200 128Mb

I've been a fan of AMD as I've never really had any issues with them but am open to Intel as well. Same goes for Nvidia, I've never had an ATI card so I have no experience with them.

Feel free to make other suggestions, I'm open to other options...

Re: First Time Build - Advice Welcomed

No Suggestions on where to upgrade/downgrade? Wasn't sure about the 2 - 8800GT's or to go with 2 - 9600 Gt's. I also noticed that the 3850 was around the same price rance as well. Would definitely like to go with x_fire or sli config in the end though. Guess another thought would be to pick up one of the cards with 2 GPU's, do these perform as well or better than two cards linked together?

Please Read This Before Posting

Fill that out and post back so we may be able to better assist you.

Everything you have picked out there seems solid to me. Personally I would pick a different RAM manufacturer...Corsair, Crucial, Mushkin or Patriot come to mind.
