Check out this board:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128074 It will allow Phenom compatibility in the future if you decide to go that route. These are also good choices: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128081 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130168

Re: Cardoc build (maybe)
Hi All
Many thanks for the feed back.I play Nascar 2003 and and Nascar Sim Racing, but it's been a little while.I wish they could combine the best of both it would be an awsome sim. Currenty my system is a Chaintech Apogee mobo, Athlon XP 2.6,512 ram and a Radeon 9150 GPU running XP SP2 still pretty well.Once in a while it gives me a headache so it's time to retire it to # 2 position.(Currently "old" parts Biostar? mobo,512 old ram,Duron 1.2 old and slow standby but still ticking).Looking foward to the new build, just have to justify the cost.Maybe I could put a small smoke bomb in this one.I've had to resolder a couple of power joints in this mobo over the last couple of years.I'd like to see the tech guys trouble shoot that remotely. That took my wife's nose to pin down a faint burning smell.Oh well. Good luck and good fun all. Cardoc |

Re: Cardoc build (maybe)
well, i suppose no driving sim can be totally realistic, but I think NR2003 comes really close, in terms of immersion and physics. One downside is that the cars somehow get automatically and magically "towed" back to the pits after an accident. also: cones can't get knocked down and so present so hazard to the cars.

Re: Cardoc build (maybe)
Hi people
Just an update, system with hardware mentioned in my posts is up and running. So far so great!Came up on first try.Went step by step bench testing.Posted fine and I'm tuning as I go.Only change I made shopping was 4gg G.Skill(2x2GB)DDR2 800 running dual channel.Yes I know the (non)issue wih more that 3gb in XP Home.Works very well.Set the drives in a RAID 1 array. So far so great. Thanks for the advise,Cardoc Last edited by cardoc; 04-23-2008 at 08:30 PM. |

Re: Cardoc build (maybe)
I would personally go with RAID 1, and would have even implemented it on my own computer if my budget had allowed it at the time.
