Re: anyone help??!!

Go with the Q9300 you have there (great CPU) and get some DDR2 800MHz RAM. DDR2 1066MHz is really a waste of money.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227089

Also, look at a better quality PSU. This is very important.

Re: anyone help??!!

the speed of the ram is not always the speed of the FSB. the difference between ddr2 800 and 1066 ram is 4 fps in counter strike: source so you will be fine with dd2 800. the FSB is more of what procs it will support, with that (generally) being the normal or maximum. 1333 ram is freaking expensive right now so dont worry about. and matt is 100% correct make sure you get a decent powersupply to go with your rig. if it dies, it can take out alot of other things that cost alot of $$$

Re: anyone help??!!

a rig is geeky slang for a computer, cool slang for a truck. here, always means computer. man after my own heart with the 3870. however, you can get a little cheaper with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127315 . $160 after MIR, not half bad. perfect choice on motherboard chipset, and abit is pretty good. just as OPTIONS, i would get the abit board any day, but just so you have a choice, here are a few other boards you might consider for ~ the same price
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131219
asus is usually pretty good and this board wont fail that rep
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136045
DFI has been longstanding one of the best clocking mothboard manufacturers and this board does also (99% sure)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128089
stable as a rock and gigabyte has recently had some good stuff

this are only options. the abit board is great, one of the best, just always nice to have some other options though :)

Re: anyone help??!!

thay said that the PCIe 2.0x16. it speed up to 32x? is this true? i've look at the gigabyte specs. it says there

PCI Express x16 : 2 x PCI Express x16 (The PCIE_16_1 slot supports x16; the PCIE_16_2 supports x16.)

Re: anyone help??!!

its speed will be x16 per card. however, in the future, you could crossfire 2x 3870 for some very good performance. however, with just one card, you will only have x16 for that one card.

Re: anyone help??!!

The X38 supports PCIe 2.0. So any board with an X38 should support PCIe 2.0 cards. PCIe 2.0 is like PCIe 1.1 x32 if it existed, but technically the two have different signaling even though they both are just as fast.

Look at the nVidia 750i chipset as it is a great value and a great performer. Supports 45nm CPUs and PCIe 2.0.

Re: anyone help??!!

ehh only problem with nvidia is that their drivers have had huge problems with vista. x38 is rock solid and a great performer. motherboard does contribute to the overall performance of the computer :)

Re: anyone help??!!

That's one of Foxconn's better designed boards, I don't see any issues with that one.
