PSU keeps powering down

Ok i am a first time builder with the specs:
- Fatal1ty FP-IN9 Sli Motherboard
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
- Gladiator Mid Tower Case - With 500W PSU and 12cm Front Fan
- OCZ DDR2 2GB memory
- Western Digital 160gb SATAii/150 7200RPM 16MB Cache
- Nvidia 8400 GS super
- Sony DRU-190S 20X DVD±RW DL & DVD-RAM Serial ATA

Ok i have two problems one with the PSU, possibly and one with the operating system:

So i have connected everything to the motherboard and power supply, but when i power it up i can get onto the bios menu but after around 30 to 300 seconds the system will just randomly power down. Could this be the PSU or something else? Any help would be great.

My second problem is with Microsoft Vista Home premium, i have just started up my computer so i have no operating system on it so, i try to install vista but when i get past the bit where it loads the files, it comes up with C00021a (System fatal error) with a bright blue background. I have know idea what to do about it? Again any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Re: PSU keeps powering down

Hi,

First I recommend replacing the power supply and see if that is the case. A bad power supply can relate to your second problem as well.
