OS: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

Good morning,
Ive been trawling and doing searches around this and many forums in an attempt to answer my question... frankly it has made me more confused. So Im just going to post and see what the outcome is. Im considering a new build to replace my current HP PC. I would like more ram but am not confident that x64 OS (Vista or XP) are all that stable / compatable, especially for gaming. My question is; can i run a x32 OS (XP) on a x64 mobo / processor? Moving forward, when x64 become more mainstream, I would then have the option to move to a x64 OS. I understand the whole x32 ram issue but I figure 3.2gb is more useful than 2gb. I am also constrained by x64 driver issues for certain hardware and the overall compatability issues in using a x64 OS Thanks in advance, any advice would be appreciated
