heatsink choices

k i got a computer all built up, thing is my e8400 sensors say it is hot, i would like to cool it down some. maybe 10 degrees celcius.

i am pretty sure the second one fits the board from reviews online. not sure about the first. i think the first one is probably better but i dont know if it will fit.

i have two motherboards i want to make sure it fits (i want it to work on both)

Re: heatsink choices

The zalman 9500/9700's are very good coolers and will fit your socket 775 boards which are both the same socket.

Re: heatsink choices

i dont want to spend a lot of money for a zalmon. i dont overclock.

reading various reviews on hte net i was under the assumption that not all 775 heatsinks fit 775 boards. some dont depending on shape, dimensions etc. that it bumps into other stuff.

Re: heatsink choices

zerotherm makes some nice ones, and so does OCZ. scythe does also. any of those should be in budget and perform :)

Re: heatsink choices

What about the Arctic Cooling one that Random had in his original post? That's actually the one I had put on my wish list.

Re: heatsink choices

it is good for its price. however, MOST (not always) you get what you pay for. the AC is a great performer though :)

Re: heatsink choices

Thanks Forcifer. So if I'm not overclocking and running in a case with good air flow, the Arctic Cooling should be fine. Just monitor the temps especially at first.
