I think my MOBO is wacked
It's me again. And I have a new problem. I've already posted on the XP support thread, but I think the problem is with the MOBO and not the operating system (I used the same disk before and had no problems).
I'm looking for a new motherboard that can handle pretty high-end games such as Crysis, STALKER, FEAR, Oblivion, and World of Warcraft, and I'd like it to support Vista 32-bit Ultimate and the other hardware I have installed. Here are the specs: MOBO (looking to replace): Maximus formula CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 FSB 1333MHZ L1 64kb L2 4mb Video Card: BFG Nvidia 8800 GTS (G92) 512mb OC Memory: OCZ Gold PC2 6400 (DDR2 800) 3x1gb CPU cooler: Zalman 9700 with thermal paste Case: Cooler Master Stacker DVD drive: Asus quiet track DVD rom Sound card: Supreme FX 2 Power Supply: PC power and cooling 750W I've been having problems with this build since the first day I turned it on. At first I thought it was Vista 64-bit freakin' out on me, but I clean installed to vista 32-bit and was having the exact same problems. Now, I'm trying to load XP home 32-bit and it won't even get past the installation screen. Give me some suggestions on a MOBO that will work for me, and more importantly, one that will work. |

Re: I think my MOBO is wacked
The Asus Maximum Formula motherboard is really good but how can you be so sure that the problem relies on the motherboard? Have you tried testing the memory and hard-drive for any errors? Have you tried a spare videocard on your issue?

What specifically are your symptoms? Any error messages?

Re: I think my MOBO is wacked
I can't load any games, specifically World of Warcraft, on vista 32-bit. And, in window's problems and solutions thing, it still says I have a problem with the ICH9R southbridge. I've checked the temperatures, they're all below 20C. I've also just finished checking the video card and the RAM and they both are working perfectly. I was going to see if system as an unexpected aversion to vista by installing xp home with SP2, but I can't even install xp. It won't let me. It tells me that "Setup cannot copy this file to the hard drive: X" where X is any number of files that can be copied from the XP disc. The disc is fine. I used it to install XP on another computer and it worked flawlessly.
Oh, and the host process modules and other modules randomly stop working even when my system is idle. Any thoughts? |

Re: I think my MOBO is wacked
I thought I just recently worked on a problem here with similar symptoms (although I don't recall a solution being found).
Try updating your chipset drivers from Intel's web site.
