Looking to Buy New Gaming Comp.

I'm looking to buy a new gaming computer with a cost of around 1000-2000 Canadian dollars. I'd be using this to play games like CoD4 and Civilization 4, plus new games that may come out in the near future. I will also be using this to type up things in Microsoft Word and to listen to music in iTunes.

What would be the best computer for me to buy?

What brand do you like? Do you plan on building yourself? What's the budget? There are a bunch of options.

Re: Looking to Buy New Gaming Comp.

I agree with the second post, there are alot of option. Since this will be gaming computer I think the best videocard to buy that is considered the bang for the buck is the Geforce 8800GT and you can get them for around $200dollars.

A good processor to get would be the Intel 3.0GHz wolfdale processor. Since you are in Canada, check out www.ncix.com which I believe is a canadian store.

Re: Looking to Buy New Gaming Comp.

go custom...

budget wise this is a great card.

also if building yourself newegg has great barebones kits. it comes with a tower/motherboard/power supply already installed. all you have to do is install the rest.

prossecor wise IMO. AMD or intel is fine in this day and age. the main factor is the video card and RAM.

here is the memory i have.

good stuff no complaints here.
