Building my first rig. Need input.

Budget: Around $1,700 - $1,800

Brands: Haven't really thought about it. I just want what's reliable.

Multitasking: Not sure at the moment.

Gaming: Definitely. This will be a gaming rig. I plan on playing mostly the new games.

Calculations: Not really. I will use divx converter from time to time.

Storage: I've decided on a 500gb and possibly adding another in the near future.

Legacy Support: Not really

OS: I plan on getting the 64 bit version of Vista

Accessories: I plan on just using the keyboard and mouse I currently use

Recycled components: No. This will be a completely new build.

Monitor: I do plan on purchasing a monitor. Links at the bottom.

I've compiled a list of parts that I will get

Indeed, with two 8800 in there - overheating could be a major problem, be sure to provide lots of venting for your case.

That is the newest chipset and processor. It will run very fast but keep in mind that the overclocking potential depends on each individual chip, and lower end chips tend to overclock better.

I agree, go with the PC Power & Cooling power supply instead.

I would however get a higher quality motherboard because motherboard failures can be a big hassle.

You could also wait for it to come into stock at Newegg.
