[SOLVED] Computer Suggestions

I am buying a computer from Tigerdirect and wanted some suggestions. I have narrowed it down to these three choices:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...3&body=REVIEWS

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...778&CatId=2628

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=3169461

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Re: Computer Suggestions

Welcome to tsf. Well the second one appears to be the fastest, amazingly they are all almost the exact same except for the cpu's. But note that none of them have video cards so if you ever want to play games you'll need to install one.

Re: Computer Suggestions

Thanks. I would buy that one in a second if it only had up to 4 GB ram like the other two! So i guess what i'm asking is, is a AMD 4200+ w/ 4 GB Ram FASTER than AMD 4600+ W/ 2GB RAM??

Any posts are greatly appreciated!

Re: Computer Suggestions

They all seem to have 1 gb of ram , but 4 gb of ram would only be useful if you had a 64bit os. And it seems they all come with 32bit os's. But a system that a has a faster processor and less ram will be faster then one with a slower processor and more ram. The system with more ram will be able to have more programs run at once but will have a slower processor as a sytem with less ram wont run as many apps at once but will have a fast processor. Its really up to you as far as what you want to do with the pc

Re: Computer Suggestions

I thought that a 32bit OS could use up to 4 GB of ram, and a 64bit OS could use 16 GB. Is this true??

Re: Computer Suggestions

the theoretical yield of a 32bit OS is 4 GB, yes, but it is purely theoretical. In practice only 2.5-3.5 GB is recognized, so it is a waste to get 4 GB.

A 64 bit processor can use up to 16 Exabytes of RAM. (obviously is nowhere near possible in practice... yet)

Re: Computer Suggestions

Oh wait nevermind. that is what Microsoft says but its actualy around 3.5 or 3, depending on how much RAM your video card has and other stuff.

Thanks for all the help, emosun, I am going with the one you suggested.
