help with new system, but I'm not a first timer
I'm planning my 5th system, but there's been so many changes in the last 3 or 4 years, I'm a little perplexed. I want a system with just 1 video card ( I really like the XFX 8800GT), but I also like the new Intel x38 chipset. Since I'm not going to go with 2 videocards, is it possible to use the Nvidia video card on a Mobo that's crossfire compatible? My assumption is there is a "generic" x16 slot that allows any single card to be used on these new motherboards. Am I right? I also would really like to get the new Intel Q9450 processor, and keep the motherboard around $250.00. Any suggestions? If I changed my mind about 1 or 2 cards, I'd still prefer the Nvidia cards, so I know I'd have to go with the nvidia chipsets. Probably the new 790i's when they come out. I use my computer for online gaming, a lot of Internet stuff, work projects, downloading and playing music and movies. I figure this next system will cost at least 1,500 bucks. Andy

Re: help with new system, but I'm not a first timer
to answer your first question, Yes you can use a single Nvidia card with the X38 chipset
And maybe look at something like this ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131227
