MoBo suggestion?

Hello everyone,
I am ready to start buying hardware for my first build. I have done my home work in terms of "how to build", but there are so many choices when it comes to parts so I thought I would ask for some advice...I would like some suggestions on a very good MoBo for a cpu that will be used for general computing and entertainment (HD video "Blu-ray" & Audio). I would like a Mobo with the ability to upgrade in the future if I want. I have no desire at this point to do a lot of tweaking/overclocking or playing games. This could all change so I would to have a MoBo that would allow me to make the changes nes to play such games if I decide to do so in the future. I will be running VISTA and an Intel CPU.

I am open to suggestions on a complete build for the purposes I have described.

Re: MoBo suggestion?

I forgot to mention I will be using this cpu and this gpu in my build (see below)...The cpu seems to be a nice and fast one in my price range and the gpu is HDCP ready which is a must...The 8800GT may be the best HDCP ready gpu on the market?

I really would like some advice on a MoBo for this set-up?

PSU?

THANK-YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: MoBo suggestion?

Just a comment on the CPU, that one is obsolete and Intel is trying to push customers away from those into their 1333MHz FSB CPUs. If you haven't already ordered consider this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115029

For the motherboard, look at something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131225

That is a high quality board at a good price.

Re: MoBo suggestion?

Thank-you!

I really appreciate the help...I hope you will not mind if I ask questions all the way til complete? The GPU I listed is OK right? I had just read an article that said the 8800gt was the board to use if I wanted to use blu-rays.

I am going to go and look for the other parts now. Any suggestions on PSU's? I would really like to find a PSU with detachable cables, I saw them on a someone's cpu and I thought it would be nice to have if reliable.

As you can tell I am very new to this and this is my first build.

Thanks again!

Re: MoBo suggestion?

Just curious as to why the cpu Intel E6700 is so much more expensive than the E6750 or even the E6850? The E6750 & E6850 are faster right?

I have a few questions that may sound dumb...

1. What is "OEM" VISTA? Why are the OEM cheaper?

2. Should I go with the 64bit VISTA? 64bit is the future, right?

YES, I want to use VISTA.

Re: MoBo suggestion?

OEMs are cheaper because you can only install them once. If your motherboard dies and needs to be replaced (by another one) or you upgrade your motherboard, you will have to buy another copy of Vista. I usually buy and recommend quality motherboards so I don't usually get OEM copies and don't have problems with motherboard replacements and licensing.

Thermaltake Toughpower 700w

The E6850 is a great CPU, but the new Wolfdale E8400 (3.0ghz) will be available sometime this week. It's 45nm, has a 6mb L2 cache, runs cooler, is more energy efficient, and the early indications is it's a great overclocker. (The E8500 has hit 4.3ghz and teh E8400 hit 4 ghz on air cooling). It's also a tad faster than the E6850 in benchmarks.
