Cry [SOLVED] Installing OS - XP

I am trying to instal XP Home into my system but it will not load.

It starts the process but once it gets to the stage of putting files onto the HDD i get the blue screen of death telling me that there could be a problem with the HDD. i have tried two HDD's and get the same message on each although one is brand new and the other was working fine in another machine.

when i enter bios the mobo says i detects the HDD, once i start installation it would appear that the system thinks the HDD is not present.

I am using a SATA DVD , SATA HDD
mobo is P5LP-LE Motherboard

the mobo is OK as i was using it to run Vista without any difficulty.

HELP please

thanks,

Mac

Re: Installing OS - XP

The drivers should be on a floppy disc that came with the hard drive. At the start of the XP installation you need to press F6 and will be prompted to insert the floppy.

Re: Installing OS - XP

It's possible that the CD for your motherboard has the drivers on it. Read the mobo manual carefully and see what it says.

Re: Installing OS - XP

Some BIOS will let you change the "Sata operation" setting to "Raid Autodetect/ATA" , then try the install.

Floppy drives are dirt cheap . . you can save yourself some grief if you buy one (with a cable for under $20)

Re: Installing OS - XP

Another option is to slipstream the SATA drivers into the XP disk. Do a google search for nLite.

That is how I installed XP onto my new SATA build with no floppy.
