First time Builder

I just built a new system with an asus P5N-E SLI 775 motherboard, an intel core 2 duo chip, two 1G DDR sticks and a eVGA 256-P2-N761AR8600GTS video card and I can't get the darn thing to post. I thought at first that I had a problem with my video card cause my monitor detects no signal when I power the whole thing up, but I did notice that I am not receiving a "Beep" at start up from the motherboard either. I unplugged the Hard drive (Which I took from my old computer with Win XP on it) and still no dice. Any Suggestions?

Re: First time Builder

Welcome to TSF. Try running the system with no drives connected and only 1 stick of memory. Make sure the extra 4 or 8 pin power connector is connected to the motherboard. Make sure if you video card needs a extra power connector its also connected. Also make sure the monitor works on another pc.

Re: First time Builder

To answer a few questions: I have a 750W Rosewill PSU, 2x1G Corsair 667 memory sticks, and the intel e6750 2.66G 65N 4M R CPU. I hope that answers the question. I am not sure about much else! Thank you . . .

Re: First time Builder

Sorry, I was wrong about the Memory: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400).

That should make a difference?

Re: First time Builder

The exact processer model is: Processor Model BX80557E6750

I will try removing one of the sticks and the all other non essentials and see if that works!

Re: First time Builder

Perhaps try the video card in the other slot? Also try reseting the cmos, you do this by removing th clock battery for bout 5 minutes then reinserting it.

Re: First time Builder

Thanks, but so far, nothing. The motherboard has the PCI Express Dual video capability and it lists for single usage, the top PCI slot. CMOS reset didn't work either. I am starting to wonder about the monitor.

Re: First time Builder

After Emptying my old computer and reinstalling the essential parts(MB, PSU, CPU, Graphics card, RAM) I tried the Monitor and confirmed that it does infact work!

Re: First time Builder

Well figured out that the motherboard was bad. That was annoying. But got a new one and things are running well! Thanks for the help!
