Building My New Computer

Hello, After Looking around this is the Parts that I have found for my new computer. What I'm posting for is some opinions on the parts and suggestions that you may have.

This computer will be for mainly Gaming (Counter-Strike Mainly) so these are some must haves that I have came up with.

- Intel Core 2 Duo
- 4gb of 800MHz DDR2
- Gigabit Onboard Lan
- Atleast 1 PCI Express Slot (For Newer Video Card Down the road, For now I'll Use the Onboard)

Here are the parts I Selected (Link Provided).

Intel Core2 Duo 2.66 4mb Cache

Kingston DDR2 800MHz
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4&Sku=K24-5416

ECS GF7100PVT-M Motherboard
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=S458-1290

OCZ StealthXStream 600w
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=O261-2008

PowerUp AK-07 ATX Mid-T Case
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=TC3J-4505

Any better Values for around the same Price or cheaper? Opinions? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Building My New Computer

The on board graphics aren't gonna play counterstrike very well or maybe not at all. Also I would recommend if you want something thats going to last into the future to look at some pci-e 2.0 boards and some ddr3 boards. If not the board then consider a pci-e 2.0 video card later on. The parts you selected will work together just fine tho.

Re: Building My New Computer

The radeon 9 series cards are pretty old. I usually always recommend a ati x series or higher as the 9 series are pretty dated. I would imagine its not going to run counterstrike very well at all. I would suggest a x series or higher if you want the games to be decent.

Re: Building My New Computer

The motherboard you picked will actually be pretty good. If you want a ddr3 mobo with pci-e 2.0 they get really expensive. So unless you can afford to go all out then the one you picked is ok.

And as for the video card, I would recommend a radeon HD2600 or higher or a geforce 8600 or higher. Or a radeon x1600 or a geforce 7900 be the minimum you get.

And then maybe the antec trio 650w as a better psu.

Re: Building My New Computer

remember that counter strike is an old game... a 9 series ati will be just fine man... and as far as counter strike goes... u don't need a lot. 4gb will be nice, but if your trying to save some cash... go with 2 gb, because you can always buy more ram later... and a pci-e 2.0 isn't a necessity, just a nice to have thing. pci-e 1 will be around for a long time, and all of the cards that are in pci-e will play css perfectly, as long as you don't buy the $50 cards like the 5000 series nvidia or the 8000 series ati. my friend plays css with a very old ATI 9600 All-In-Wonder card and he has just as smooth frames as my 7900GTX gets. i can still play every new game out there on the highest settings with the exeption of the newest Direct X 10 games,(which most cards can't anyways) and my specs are:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Mother board
1 gb Kingston Ram
250 GB Maxtor SATAII HDD
BFG Nvidia 7900GTX Video Card
Ultra 500 Watt PSU

thats an old set-up by todays standards, and i just built that last year... lol!
it still takes on any game though!
