Question Need Help and Advice with Upgrades

Installing New Seagate SATA HD and AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4200+ 939

I want to add my new
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s as my Primary Drive With The Operating System SATA Only, no RAID.

I would like to know if i can format, test, and partition it with the 2 PATA Hard drives still installed and later use my existing Seagate 500 GB PATA drive as a second hard drive. At some point I plan to convert it to SATA connectors with an Addonics IDE - Serial ATA Converter if possible or advisable to ease the cable frenzy knowing it will still be ATA\100.

My board and bios does support SATA, And the 64 X2 CPU, I did read the guide about replacing X2 CPU's and I am going to do a fresh install of XP PRO SP2 on the new Seagate SATA hd when I install the New
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 939 MANCHESTER Dual-Core CPU.

My current power supply (not my choice) is an Ultra X-Finity 600 Watt with
# NVIDIA SLI Ready
# 120mm Fan
# Meets ATX Version 2.2, v1.3, and ATX 12V Version 2.2 Specifications SATA connectors

My old CPU was getting hot so I have an aftermarket Coolermaster cooler on it and I plan to use it with this CPU knowing to just use a bb size amount of ARCTIC SILVER 5 HIGH DENSITY THERMAL COMPOUND.

I currently have:
